Adult Ed: Justice in the Old Testament Prophets (part 2)
Join us again this week in Adult Ed for our ongoing series on Faith and Justice. Prof. Terry Clark will speak to us again about “Justice in the Old Testament Prophets.” Prof. Clark is an Old Testament scholar in the Religion department at Georgetown College. He spoke last week about the Book of Amos, an 8th-century prophet to the Northern Kingdom of Israel, and will continue his presentation this week. Justice is one of the most important themes of the Old Testament, and especially now during Lent, God calls us all to cooperate in His work for justice for the poor and oppressed. Adult Ed meets each Sunday at 10:15 am in Room 2 (behind the baptismal font); coffee and sweets are served, and all are welcome!
Recycle Your Plastic Shopping Bags by March 11
Did you know 5 trillion plastic shopping bags are used worldwide every year? On average, a U.S. family uses 1,500 plastic shopping bags per year. Worse yet, 22 billion lbs. of plastics end up in God's oceans each year. That's over a garbage truck full of plastics being dumped in God's oceans every minute! Lexington’s Recyling Center can't recycle plastic shopping bags. But the city and NexTrex have teamed up for the Plastic Bag Challenge to recycle 1,000 lbs. of plastic bags into a new Lextran bench. To help get plastic out of the oceans and out of your storage, drop off your clean and dry plastic shopping bags in the brown boxes in lobby by Tuesday, March 11.

Help Sponsor the Newman Center Appalachian Spring Break Trip
Kevin Steele invites all to give a financial gift to the spring break trip he is leading to the Appalachian region of our Diocese. Financial gifts will help meals, subsidize expenses for gas, van rental, lodging, speakers fees, and other expenses to help the trip be affordable to all students. Make a check out to "Newman Center" and place in the memo "Kevin Steele's Mission Trip”.
